International Tourism

The tourism course offered by the Institute is custom-designed and provides a unique and exceedingly distinctive combination of knowledge and practical skills to the learners. The course reflects all essential skills to meet the requirements from both the Tourism and Hospitality Industry. Tourism is an ever changing and incredibly dynamic industry and therefore requires a skilled, specialised and professional workforce. Limitless opportunities exist in this industry to all successful learners.

The curriculum is designed in line with the International City and Guilds program and requirements and inputs from leaders in the Tourism Industry. The subjects followed will provide learners with the relevant knowledge, skills and workplace related training and skills that is of vital importance to succeed in their careers.

The program is planned to reflect both the international nature of the tourism industry and the country or culture specific activities that are essential to meet customer needs.

The Institute strives to benchmark its programs on world-class standards. All lecturers are fully qualified, not only on an academic level but have extensive experience in their specialist field. The course is offered over three year duration, starting with a Certificate, followed by a Diploma and then Advanced Diploma.

CERTIFICATE - 1st year

The certificate is a broad introduction to the theoretical and practical aspects of tourism for a frontline employee.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

A qualification equal to grade 12 or level 4 is a prerequisite for entrance to this course. Proficiency in English is a basic requirement as the International examinations are only conducted in English and due to the in-service placements.

Practical in-service training and tourism events and tours forms an integral part of the International Tourism qualification and is compulsory.
